Source:
Public Health Ontario Infectious Diseases Query: Middlesex-London Health Unit: Case counts and crude rates of reportable diseases by year. Toronto ON: Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion; 2019 May 8 [cited 2019 May 13].From 2005 to 2015, the rate of invasive group A streptococcus infections in Middlesex-London was comparable to the Ontario rate. From 2016 to 2018, the local rate was significantly higher than the provincial rate, peaking in 2017.
The increased local rates in 2006 through 2018 are attributed to a community outbreak associated with people who use drugs and/or were underhoused.
