Public Health Ontario Infectious Diseases Query: Middlesex-London Health Unit: Case counts and crude rates of reportable diseases by year. Toronto ON: Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion; 2019 May 8 [cited 2019 May 13].

From 2005 to 2017, the rates of hepatitis A infections in both Middlesex-London and Ontario were 1.7/100,000 or lower, regardless of the year.

In 2018, the rate of hepatitis A infections among Middlesex-London residents was significantly higher than all other years in the 14-year time period, and was also significantly higher than the provincial rate. Similarly, the rate across Ontario as a whole in 2018 was significantly higher than the previous 11 years. The increase in both the local and provincial rates in 2018 was attributed to an outbreak largely among people who use drugs and those who experience homelessness, and to a lesser extent, men who have sex with men.
